Starlooks August 2015 Looksbook - Review

This is my first Starlooks' Looksbook and I was super excited to receive it this month.   This month was the Resort Edition and like every month you receive three beauty products along with three gift cards for only $12.  If you read any of my previous posts you'll notice I've received Starlooks' other subscription box as well and so far I think I like this one more because it's a surprise each month, but the other box sub is great too if you like to choose which products you want to try each month.

As you can see above the Looksbook also holds all the product you receive that month along with a small booklet attached to the box telling you the best way to apply each product with a picture showing how each product looks.
The product on the top left is their highlighter/blush duo in the shades Ritz and Tropic.  The hightlighter is a gorgeous and subtle golden shade for your cheek and eyebrow bones.
The product on the right is the gloss-finish lipstick in the shade "Jet Set" this is a gorgeous pinky peach shade and can be applied lightly for a bit of color or layered for more.  With this lipstick you will want to exfoliate your lips first though or you will see every line and chapped skin on your lips.
The last product on the bottom is their water eyeshadow in the shade Aqua.  I don't tend to like eyeshadows in this shade because I do have blue eyes so I used this on my whole lid and then took a brown eyeshadow to go over most of the lid except in the inner part of the eyelid to sort of dull the brightness down a bit.  I think I would have preferred this in a neutral color instead but I'm also not sure I like the texture of a cream eyeshadow they seem harder to work with but maybe I'm not using it in the correct way.

Here are swatches of each product from left to right:
Ritz highlighter
Tropic blush
Jet Set Lipstick
and
Aqua water eyeshadow

In this photo I tried to use every product I received but unfortunately since I took these pictures at night the blush and highlighter didn't show up at all on camera.

I also received 3 gift cards with this subscription as well a $15 gift card to TORRAIN, a $50 gift card to VERSA swimwear and a "gift card" for $15 off when you spend $30 or more at
THE LABORATORY.  I would have posted a picture as well but I forgot to take one, and unfortunately I will not be using these.  I think I would have been happier receiving gift cards to Starlooks or honestly would have been happy with just receiving the box itself.

If you'd like to try out their new Starlooks Looksbook you can do so by using my referral link if you'd like to by clicking HERE or you if you'd like, you can check out their website.

August 2015 Custom Starbox - Review - Starlooks

This is my second ever Starlooks Custom Starbox and just so you know, if you decide you like what you see and want to subscribe to receive your own mostly Starbox, there are a few things that changed for next month moving forward.  As you can see below I have received 3 beauty products along with 3 different gift cards.  Next month they will be sending out 4 beauty products instead of the three and 3 Starlooks gift cards which will be a total of $20 towards different products, collections, etc. on Starlooks.com.

Longwear Eye Shadow

This was the first product I chose which was in the shade Gold Coast.  I chose this shade because I love nude eyeshadows and this one just looked like a beautiful color.  I tried to show a swatch of this on my hand but it just wouldn't show up too great, but I do have a photo at the bottom using only that eyeshadow.

I chose this brush because I had planned on using my Scheana Marie Starlooks gift card to purchase the pot liner, but unfortunately that product was sold out.  So instead I decided to test this out by using it to fill in my eyebrows.  I really like this brush, it's soft so when I do get around to buying gel eyeliner it won't feel like I'm gouging my eyes out, which of course is always nice.

"Gimme More" Volumizing Mascara

This was the last product I chose and I was a little disappointed in it.  It did seem to separate my eyelashes nicely, but I didn't notice much volume unfortunately.  I do have to say though, I don't know if I just got a bad one or not but I am not very fond of how this mascara smells.

This month for my gift cards I decided to stick with only Starlooks gift cards, because even though I got lucky last month I noticed that the other brand gift cards were very small amounts compared to how much the brands products actually cost.  That being said with my gift cards I purchased Scheana Marie "Soft Rose" Lip Liner, Masiela Lusha "Screen Ready" Lipstick, and the October Starbox from last year.

In this picture I used all 3 products I received this month.

Overall I have to say I've really enjoyed receiving Starlooks and I think it's definitely worth $12 a month.  I love that you're able to choose which products you want to try out with this subscription and I also love the gift cards.  So not only are you receiving the products that are sent in your box, but you're also able to use your gift cards to purchase even more products to try out.  I was able to link the Liner brush but the other products I was not able to find on their website, but as soon as they are available I will be updating my post with those links as well.  If your interested in trying out the new Starlooks custom Starbox I'd love for you to use my referral link.

If you just want to look around their website and see what else they have to offer you can do so by checking out their website

LA FRESH - Laura Geller - Marcelle - Reviews

These products are a part of why I love Birchbox so much.  Reviewing products you receive from Birchbox gives you points and after accumulating a good amount of points I decided I wanted to purchase a few things in their shop.  Lately since I've been really into lip products I knew that was what I wanted to order.  It took me a while to choose what I wanted but I'm pretty happy with my choices.

This was the product I was most excited to try and I chose the shade Purple Currant.  I was definitely very happy with my choice because unlike the other lip product I ordered this one was very pigmented.  This lip crayon is infused with vitamin E and is very moisturizing and so gorgeous.  By clicking the link above you can purchase this for $16 in the shades Purple Currant, Plum Freeze, or Watermelon Cooler.

This was the second product I picked and I chose it in the shade Bellisima.  I chose this shade because the color looked gorgeous on the website.  Unfortunately I was a little disappointed because this gloss doesn't seem to have any color payoff.  Although it seems to have no color, it is a great gloss and I do recommend this gloss if you're looking for a good sheer gloss.  This gloss feels very moisturizing and isn't sticky at all.  This gloss can be purchased for $11 by clicking the link above and the Birchbox shop offers it in two other shades which are Lolita, and Rogue Velouté.

This was the last product I chose because I wanted to be able to get the most out of my points and I knew this would be a product that I'd definitely use.  These are great because since they are so soft they are gentle on your skin.  I love that they are individually wrapped as well because it's so easy to just throw in your purse instead of having to carry around a big pack if you'll only be needing one or two.  To try out these products you can purchase a pack of three for only $1.99.

Eleven Paris - BASRAF W natural shoes - Review

If you read my earlier Starlooks Starbox review I mentioned that I had used my ELEVENPARIS gift cards to purchase a pair of shoes.  The shoes were shipped out pretty quickly and took a week to get to me.  One thing I do have to say that I dislike about their website is that they don't have any info about what their shoes, or any of their other products, are made of.

When I first went to their website I knew I wanted to order a pair of shoes and these, to me, seemed to be the ones that would match most outfits the best.  When I first tried them on I realized I had to wear socks that weren't smaller than ankle socks or the tongue of the shoes would rub against the top of my feet.  Once I had on the right socks they were a lot more comfortable, but their shoes seem to run a tad bit small.  The soles of the shoes are nice because they grip pretty good so you don't have to worry about your shoes slipping.  I have small feet and at first I thought they made my feet look oddly long but the more I wear them the more I like them.

If you're interested in checking out some of their other shoes and clothes you can check out their website.

August 2015 Birchbox - Review

This month was supposed to be an awesome box for me, in my opinion at least.  This month for sample choice I decided to go with their guest editor box which was the Candidly Nicole box and I was super excited.  That excitement didn't last long though because when I received my box it wasn't what I had wanted at all.  Although I didn't get the products I wanted this month every product will be used.  So, if you don't know already Birchbox is a monthly beauty subscription box service.  Each month you pay $10 and you are then shipped 5 beauty, grooming, and/or lifestyle samples that are personalized towards you.  Birchbox also has their own shop which you can use the points you accumulate from reviewing the products you get each month.  Each product your review you will receive 10 points for and for every 100 points you get will equal to $10 in the Birchbox shop.

Every box comes with a card in it which tells you each product you've received.  Under each product it also tells you what each product does and how much the full-size of each will cost.

This is the first product I received this month which is the item that was also somehow listed as my sample choice for this month.  I actually ended up really liking this moisturizer, it makes my skin feel very smooth, doesn't feel super thick on my skin, and smells pretty nice as well.  Some moisturizers I've tried I can feel sitting on my face, but this one seemed to absorb into my skin.  This moisturizer is supposedly for all skin types and so far doesn't seem to break out my oily and sensitive skin. The full-size of this costs $20.

This is the second product I received this month and I've tried a few dr. brandt products in the past that I've really enjoyed.  I've only used this product once so far and it did make my skin feel softer and smoother, but I'll have to try it a few more times to see if it gives me fewer blackheads.  I'm kind of confused about this product though because the card that came with Birchbox describes it as a gel, but this product was very thin and runny.  Hopefully I can get a few more uses out of it though because the tube seemed to have barely any product in it. The full-size of this product costs $35.

This is the third product I received this month and one that I was excited to try.  I don't usually use a lot of products in my hair, but every once in a while I do like using mousse.  I've used this a few times now on dry and damp hair and I really like it.  It doesn't make my hair look stringy or feel crunchy and gives good volume.  I noticed that some people didn't like how it smells but I actually think it smells quite nice.  The full-size of this product costs $18.

This was the next product I received this month and the one I was most excited about.  I have been really into lip products lately so it's always fun to receive more.  This product is great because it can be used for the lips or cheeks.  It is very moisturizing and can be dabbed on for a little bit of color or applied normally for a bolder shade.  You can purchase a set of three shades in the shop for $20.

This is the last product I received.  I haven't used the shampoo or conditioner yet so I can't really comment on how much I like or dislike them, but I have used the masque.  I love hair masques so I'm happy that it was the product that wasn't a foil packet.  Unfortunately, I didn't really like it that much.  First off, I don't have long hair and I still used quite a bit of this product and my hair didn't really feel soft.  I may have to try it a couple more times but my hair seemed to feel dry after using this.
The full-size of the Masque is $59 and the full-sizes for the shampoo and conditioner range from $14 - $42.

Overall I'm not too mad with this box.  Even though it wasn't the box I had chosen the products I received weren't bad, for the most part.
